Phil and Ted Double Stroller – A Convertible Stroller At A Great Value

Most double strollers are non-convertible, meaning that you cannot transform them from single to double with just a few adjustments to the main configuration. Well, not so with the Phil and Ted double stroller.

Product Description

As previously mentioned, you can adopt a Phil and Ted single stroller to fit two children, front to back.  In this way, the double stroller is smaller in width than the standard double stroller where the children are placed side by side, which means more maneuverability in tighter spaces and doorways.

Parents can choose from four basic set-ups – single infant, single toddler, double infant and toddler as well as double toddler.  When an infant is to be paired with a toddler, the former is placed at the back with his bed reclined at the appropriate angle to shield him from the sun, wind and curious people. Children from newborns until 4 years of age are suitable for this type of stroller.

Depending on the model, which has now expanded to four, namely, classic, sport, dash and vibe, the strollers will feature 2 to 3 handlebar positions, solid to transparent sun canopies, reclinable double kit, pull bar, removable seat cushions, 3 to infinite seat positions, foot and handbrake as well as one-touch brake, manual to trigger mechanism, and steel to aluminum frames.

The common thread running through all the models of the Phil and Ted double stroller are full seat recline, lockable swivel front wheel and the five-point safety harness.  Of course, all the strollers will fold flat. The weight is at an average of 22 pounds, which is quite heavy but is still manageable.

Prices start at $400 excluding shipping and handling.  In many stores, the Phil and Ted strollers are often on the high-end of the product category.

Pros

Still, the price is well worth the benefits.  Since the stroller is compact, it can be easily maneuvered in and stored into small spaces like the closet or the car’s trunk along with the other odds and ends of being a parent.

The double stroller also steers like a dream even with just one hand.  You can easily navigate relatively rough terrain like bumpy sidewalks as well as the gravel and grass in the parks.  You also have the benefit of adjustable handlebars to suit your comfort level.

The best benefit is that it is convertible depending on your children’s ages.  You need not purchase another stroller once your older child becomes old enough to ride at the front while his younger siblings sleep at the back.

Cons

You will have to live with the Phil and Ted stroller disadvantages although it must be noted that, with a little adjustment, these cons can be bypassed.  For one thing, the strollers do not come with a parent organizer, which makes it a hassle to be juggling cups and snacks.  Plus, the stowage basket is harder to reach when the lower seat is fully reclined.

For another thing, you will feel awkward placing your babies in a front to back position especially with fears that your older child will move around so much and hurt his younger sibling below.  Actually, this is next to impossible, thanks to durable construction.

All in all, the Phil and Ted double stroller is good value for its expensive price.  So, do spend a bit more for the stroller.
